People Practice
Murray Burger has researched the development of SME's since 2002 and the research indicated an business need in the SME sector for professional and efficient Human Resources services and support. Alfa & Omega NBS has responded to this requirement and developed a People Practice Chestwhich allows for a robust yet flexible People Solution for organisations which is based to the following business model:

People Practice Chest (PPC)
The PPC offers organisations a wide variety of outsourced People Solutions that can be tailored to their specific needs. No longer do organisations need a dedicated HR department and specialists along with their associated costs. Any service offering provided by the PPC will be accompanied by the expertise of the Alfa & Omega NBS team and their in-depth knowledge of the human capital needs of any organisation in any industry.
The service offering provided by the PPC are broken up into six different options. These options are always implemented according to the identified needs (gaps) and preferences of the customer and can be implemented as a whole or as parts. Needs are classified into basic needs; things you need to comply with, covering applicable legislation as well as basic HR policies, processes and templates and comprehensive needs; focusing on value adding People (HR) practices associated with high performance. These practices include People (HR) practice strategies e.g. reward or training, detailed People (HR) processes (six), People Practice (HR) tools, education on the different People (HR) practices such as performance and reward management and the active management of the total annual People (HR) calendar.
1. Option one
Option one (People Audit) below is done for a small fee and the outcome of the People Audit informs the decisions on both basic and comprehensive needs with regards to the subsequent options.

2. Option two
Option two coves the delivery of a People Practice Chest: Basic (PPCB) which is delivered in the form of a People Practice (HR) Policy Manual (and CD) covering +- 50 HR policies and some basic processes as well as a comprehensive set of templates for everyday use (e.g. appointment letters, remuneration review letters, written warning etc) and 5 role profiles. A People (HR) Strategy and Plan ready for implementation is also part of this option.

3. Option three
Option three covers the People Practice Chest: Comprehensive (PPCC) set-up and entails the following; comprehensive People (HR) processes (six), People Practice (HR) tools such as the performance/potential matrix, rating scales, performance rating decision tree etc, populated management reports, completed role profiles (all), jobs graded and remuneration compared with the market. This option further entails the dedicated services of a People Consultant who will implement and manage the PPCC on behalf of the client. The time spend with the client will be needs based and pre-agreed, but will not be for less than 4 months with for example one full day a week. In addition the People Consultant will be available via telephone and e-mail from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:30.

4. Option four
Option four is very similar to option three except for an agreed full year retainer. This will ensure that the full annual HR calendar inclusive of all the applicable People Practice (HR) tools is implemented and that everybody is educated on the six People (HR) practices. These practices and ad hoc HR needs such as recruitment are also actively managed by the dedicated People Consultant.

5. Option five
Option five includes all ad hoc People (HR) services that are not catered for in options one to four. It is not included for the fact that these services are sourced from our network of alliance partners and fees are based on customer needs and choice of solutions. People (HR) services based on ad hoc needs along with related fees are however always pre-agreed with the customer prior to implementation. The dedicated People Consultant will nevertheless source, implement and actively manage these services as an integral part of his role.

6. Option six
Option six deals with shared services in the true sense of the word, providing a home (SA) grown solution – Human Capital Management System (HCMS) that takes care of the transactional People (HR) services and automating time consuming processes an practices such as recruitment, performance management, Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Employment Equity (EE) reposts. The entire HCMS inclusive of payroll can be implemented or selected modules and the management thereof can be done internally or outsourced. The HCMS can also host all relevant HR policies, processes, tools, role profiles and structures with access to all or selected individuals. The function can further be enhanced by the addition of Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Desktop (MDT) as well as the People Contact Centre (PPC) to deal with employee queries on policy and benefit related issues.
